What We Do
Find sunny weekend breaks this weekend or next. HotWeekends combines live weather forecasts with latest flight prices so you can discover and book sunny weekend breaks this weekend or next in minutes. Most travel sites make you pick a destination first. HotWeekends flips that. Search by weather, find sunny weekend getaways with good weather, pick from there.
How It Works
- Weather data: the first 14 days use live forecasts from OpenWeatherMap, refreshed every 6 hours. Dates beyond that use historical seasonal data until they enter the live forecast window.
- Flight prices: sourced from multiple providers and updated every Wednesday and Friday, so fares are always current for the coming weekend.
- Rankings: destinations are scored on value for money and daytime weather conditions. We use a weighted combination of average temperature, sunlight hours, and cloud cover across your travel dates. This is the Weather Pleasantness Index (WPI).
About the Founder
Tristan Robinson is the founder of FairFareFinder
GmbH. He has 8+ years of professional software engineering
experience, including a technical lead role at HELLA, and holds an
MEng in Electronic Engineering from the University of Glasgow. He
designed and built HotWeekends from first principles: the Go
backend, the weather and flight data pipelines, and the search and
ranking logic.
Prior to founding FairFareFinder, he architected and ran a
production developer community platform at HELLA, building custom
integrations across REST APIs, Docker, and Linux infrastructure.
That work led to him becoming a moderator at
meta.discourse.org
and a guest speaker on a Discourse-hosted panel on data patterns
in large developer communities.
